Singer-songwriter Melyssa Lee from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, crafts memoir into poignant
song. In early 2023, she released her first single, “Sunflower (acoustic)”, about the sudden passing of her close friend’s young son. The song made its way to numerous playlists, podcast interviews, CBC Radio Local Spotlight Feature and community and college radio, with over 45K plays on streaming platforms. She has since released her first full EP, “simply - acoustic compilation” two singles, “Mona’s Song” and “My Guarantee” and in 2024 her first full album “Treasures.”

Drawing inspiration from folk roots and the emotive energy of the Lilith era, her songs are a blend of warmth, vulnerability and strength. Lee’s vocals range from tender to soul-stirring crescendos in the style of Sarah McLachlan, Dido and Dolores O’Riordan; weaving stories of parentage, parenthood, love and being Canadian. She has also recently formed a band,

“Education Party” whose beautiful instrumental arrangements of violin, mandolin, keys and percussion fuse with
Chapman stick®, synth and rock elements to unleash orchestral expressions of human experience. With the band (Education Party), she has played across Alberta and BC including the King Eddy, Velvet Olive, the Slice and across provincial parks and festivals such as Brotel Backyard Festival and Eastern Slopes Music Festival in 2025.
